A very pretty carp syndicate situated in the Colne Valley in Earls Colne, near Colchester. The syndicate consists of 2 waters. Both of which were excavated for gravel in the 1930s and have now matured into stunning tree lined lakes with an excellent head of carp to 30+lbs.
Many of our members join, not simply for the fishing, but to enjoy the tranquility and to appreciate the great variety of wildlife that these lakes have to offer.
We have a large amount of mid to high twenties with a good number of 30lb+ carp across both waters. The lakes have similar characteristics with many islands and several other features. As mentioned, they are mainly gravel pits but you will also come across plenty of silt and clay as well as lily, mussel beds etc.
We limit membership numbers to 40 per season, across both waters, and therefore there is always plenty of swims available and it is not uncommon to be the only one down there.
Our season runs runs from 1st May - 31st March. The waters are therefore closed through April, at which point we run a number of work parties to carry out general maintenance to the waters. We do however members an opportunity to fish in April if they have attended 2 work parties in January, February and March.
We do not have too many rules but those we have are designed to protect the fish and look after the environment. We have worked hard to create a comfortable environment for our syndicate members to feel relaxed and enjoy. Therefore, anyone found to be breaking any of the fishery rules will be asked to leave, have their membership cancelled immediately and not be entitled to any refund of fees.
In order to join, new members must meet one of our officers at the lakes to be shown around and understand the fishery rules. This gives us the chance to see if you are the type of person we would like to join the syndicate as well as being an ideal opportunity for you to decide if this is the syndicate for you.
